Alnwick, Bamburgh & The Holy Island (Lindisfarne) - 1 Day Tour

Operating dates: From Wednesday 10th May to 27th September 2017

Visit Harry Potter Castle

We leave Edinburgh at 08.30 and travel South, following the coast until we arrive at Lindisfarne * by way of a tidal causeway from the mainland. Lindisfarne Castle is one of the most distinct and picturesque features of the Island. Lindisfarne is the place where Christianity first arrived in England and it has been a place of pilgrimage ever since, along with Iona in Scotland. Visitors can visit the Priory if they wish.

From there we travel south to the charming village of Bamburgh. Bamburgh Castle is one of the most impressive castles in England. The castle is perched on rocks at the edge of the sea and boasts magnificent views. It has a fascinating collection of over 2000 items of historic interest.

Our tour continues to the market town of Alnwick with its beautiful Alnwick gardens and Alnwick Castle (Hogwarts in Harry Potter movie). The gardens boast an inspiring landscape and unique features including a treehouse, the Polson Garden and magnificent architecture, all brought to life with water.

Alnwick Castle is considered one of the finest inhabited stately homes in England. It has magnificent spacious grounds, domineeringmedieval towers, a 14th century dungeon and beautiful state rooms with Italian Renaissance design. The Castle is now famously known to many as “Hogwarts” after its appearance in the Harry Potter films.
